
The Simple Framework That Helps You Achieve Anything You Want
Have you ever set a goal and then… just never achieved it? Maybe you wanted to get fit, or start a business, or learn a new skill. You had the vision, you had the desire, but somehow it never quite happened.
I’ve been there more times than I can count. And for a long time, I thought it was just me. I thought I wasn’t disciplined enough or talented enough or lucky enough.
But then I learned something that changed everything. The problem wasn’t me - it was my approach. I was setting goals the wrong way.
Now I’m going to share with you a system that’s used by peak performers, professional athletes, successful entrepreneurs - people who actually achieve what they set out to do. It’s called the Goal Stack, and it might be the most powerful tool you’ve ever used.
Why Most Goal Setting Fails
Let me tell you why traditional goal setting doesn’t work. Most people set goals like this: “I want to lose 20 pounds” or “I want to make $100,000 this year.” These are okay as starting points, but they’re incomplete.
The problem is that these goals don’t tell you how to get there. They don’t help you figure out what to do today, tomorrow, or next week. They’re just distant destinations with no road map.
And that’s exactly why people fail. When you don’t know what steps to take, you end up taking no steps at all. Or you take random actions that don’t really move you toward your goal.
The Goal Stack Explained
The Goal Stack is different. Instead of just setting one goal, you create a complete system that connects your ultimate vision with your daily actions.
Here’s how it works:
First, you define your big goal. This is where you want to end up - your dream life, your major achievement, the thing that seems almost too big to think about.
Then, you work backwards. You figure out what you need to achieve in the next year to move toward that big goal. Then what you need to do this month. Then what you need to do this week. Then what you need to do today.
Each level connects to the one below it. Your daily actions should contribute to your weekly goals. Your weekly goals should contribute to your monthly goals. And your monthly goals should all point toward your ultimate vision.
This is a “stack” - each level supports the ones above it.
Why This Works So Well
The magic of the Goal Stack is that it makes big goals manageable. When your big goal feels overwhelming, you don’t try to tackle it all at once. You just focus on what you need to do today.
And here’s the thing: when you complete your daily tasks, you feel accomplished. That feeling builds momentum. It makes you want to keep going. Tomorrow, you’ll tackle tomorrow’s tasks. Before you know it, you’ll have made real progress toward your big goal.
It also keeps you focused. With a Goal Stack, you always know what matters. When you’re tempted to spend time on something that doesn’t help your goals, you can look at your stack and see that it’s not part of the plan.
How To Create Your Own Goal Stack
Ready to try this? Here’s what to do:
Start with your biggest goal. Don’t hold back - write down what you really want. Maybe it’s a certain amount of money, a specific career, a personal achievement. Whatever it is, write it down.
Next, break it into yearly goals. What does achieving this look like at the end of one year? What needs to happen in the next 12 months?
Then, break those into monthly goals. What specific outcomes do you need this month?
Continue to weekly and daily. What actions will you take each day to move forward?
The key is to make sure each level connects to the ones above and below. Your daily tasks should clearly contribute to your weekly goals. Your weekly goals should clearly contribute to your monthly goals. And so on.
The Power of Writing It Down
One more important thing: write everything down. Don’t just think about it in your head.
There’s something powerful about putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard). When you write down your goals, you clarify what you actually want. You can’t be fuzzy when you’re forced to articulate it.
Plus, written goals serve as a reminder. When you have a bad day or lose motivation, you can look at what you wrote and remember what you’re working toward.
Making It Work For You
The Goal Stack isn’t a one-time exercise. You should revisit it regularly - maybe every week, maybe every month. As you achieve some goals, set new ones. As you learn new things, adjust your approach.
This is a living system, not a static plan. The more you use it, the better it gets.
And remember: the point isn’t perfection. The point is progress. Even if your first Goal Stack isn’t perfect, it’s still infinitely better than having no plan at all.
My Experience With The Goal Stack
I started using this system a while back, and honestly, it’s been life-changing. I used to float through life hoping good things would happen. Now I have a clear picture of what I want and a plan to get there.
Some days are hard. Some days I don’t feel like doing what I planned. But I look at my stack and remember what I’m working toward, and that helps me keep going.
The beautiful thing is that I’ve actually started achieving things I used to only dream about. Not because I’m special or lucky, but because I have a system now. I have a plan.
